Chulo’s story is one of passion, tradition, and culinary excellence, brought to life by the visionary chef Mr. Lok Thakali. Mr. Lok Thakali’s illustrious culinary journey began in 1996 when he embarked on a transformative adventure to Japan, a country celebrated for its meticulous and artful approach to cuisine. Over six pivotal years as a junior chef, he immersed himself in the rich tapestry of Japanese culinary traditions, refining his skills and acquiring invaluable experience that would shape his future endeavors. In 2002, Mr. Thakali brought his burgeoning culinary expertise to the United Kingdom. He continued to hone his craft as a junior chef at a charming English pub in Reading, earning accolades for his dedication and exceptional culinary skills. His time in the UK marked the beginning of an insatiable quest for growth and adventure. In 2006, driven by a passion for culinary exploration, Mr. Thakali ventured to Hong Kong. There, he embraced the dynamic culinary scene, taking on the role of chef in a prestigious Japanese restaurant. His tenure in Hong Kong further expanded his culinary repertoire and deepened his appreciation for diverse culinary traditions. By the end of 2011, Mr. Thakali returned to the UK and settled in Basingstoke, a bustling town known for its central location and vibrant community. He joined Capital Catering as a supervisor, where he excelled in overseeing all catering operations. His leadership and culinary acumen were instrumental in delivering exceptional dining experiences until 2018. Following his successful supervisory role, Mr. Thakali ascended to the position of senior chef in a distinguished Japanese restaurant. For five years, he delighted patrons with his masterful creations, all the while nurturing a dream close to his heart. Throughout his remarkable career, Mr. Thakali harbored a profound passion for opening his own restaurant. Inspired by the rich culinary heritage of his native Nepal, he envisioned a dining establishment that would celebrate the flavors and traditions of his homeland.
